I was posting all Declan & Harper's photos to FB when I remembered I had this blog. I'm not planning on uploading ALL the pictures I have taken of them so far, but I figured this would be a much better venue for updating everyone rather than doing it on FB.
I wish I had kept the blog while I was going through the whole process of getting pregnant with them...it would have been great for them to look at when they get older. So here's the short version:
I decided in my mid-20s that if, by the time I reached 35, I was not married or in a long term relationship where that was the next logical step, I was going to have a family on my own. There are a lot of reasons for my decision; (more than I'm willing to go into on a blog) the strongest reason being I wanted a family & it wasn't something I was willing to put off until I found "the one". So when I got to Wright-Patterson, I asked about the possibility during my yearly exam & got a referral to the reproductive endocrinologist on base. We did a bunch of tests to make sure there weren't any medical issues that would prevent me from getting pregnant & I started the process of choosing a donor. My mom, my sister, & my two best friends helped me pick out the donor. In Dec 2011, on the second try, I found out I was pregnant...with twins. For the record, the hormone they had me on only increases the chance of having twins by 4% - the genetic predisposition to have twins was MUCH greater than that. I decided NOT to find out what I was having & managed to make it all the way through the pregnancy. Drove my sister nuts, but that was part of the fun. ;) My mom was at a point in her career where she could retire, so she (thankfully) agreed to retire a year earlier than she had planned & come live with me to be my full time caregiver.

And on August 14, 2012 my beautiful children, Declan Turner and Harper Josephine were born. So the rest of the blog will be dedicated to OUR (mis)adventures.
